Waking up on time just got easier. The SmartSet alarm clock automatically sets itself when plugged in, then keeps the correct time--even adjusting for leap year and daylight savings. Infrared snooze control lets you grab a few extra minutes without even touching a button, while the large, red LED display is extremely viewable, even with tired eyes. From Emerson.

"I bought 2 of the Emerson Smartset Clocks. One for for myself and 1 for my son. We both love them. Works just like instructions says. Have had mine since Christmas 2007 and still working. Changes to correct time w/power outage and also for daylight savings time. I love the fact you can have 2 different time settings. II never have to worry if power goes off. I will never be late again. just love it. Am going to buy another one for my sister-in-law for Christmas this year. Great Clock!"

"Just received this 8/8/08. Plugged it in and it immediately set time and date. Great! But when it hit 5:00 I saw that the top line of the 5 did not illuminate. Again at 7:00 the top line of the 7 did not illuminate, indicating incorrectly 1:00. After resetting it a couple of times the top line has never come on. I am going to send it back. I have kept it on, though, until I get the time to repack it, but now the time has jumped ahead 1 hour and will not reset to the correct time. The radio works fine, and the sound quality is what it is...a clock radio. So I am sending it back. Too bad though it was the right display size and easy set features my elderly mother needed in a clock for her bedroom."

"I purchased the SmartSet Clock very recently and received it 7/22/08. After reading instructions, I connected power to the unit. Once powered up, the clock year date default was set to 2005. I manually had to set the correct time to my time zone (central), manually set the correct date, & time. The low battery light also continually flashed indicating the battery was low upon initial plug in. I emailed the Emerson Co. and they stated they will be mailing me out a new replacement lithium battery. The clock has unique features for the price. I will use the clock for the next few weeks to see performance & accuracy, and then make a decision as to retaining it or returning it. Lousy first impression though upon receiving the device."

"I've owned Emerson Smartset clocks for years and while it's still plastic, this model has some heft to it, is reasonably solid and it's got the largest display. The unit is already set for the new DST start/end times and for my purposes, the radio is fine. This is not an atomic clock so don't expect pinpoint accuracy when the time sets. I purchased two units. The first was 90 seconds fast, the other was 11 minutes fast. However, you can manually set the time and I matched both units to an atomic clock. That adjusted setting then becomes the default and after simulating several power failures, both clocks reset perfectly each time. I'm pleased."

"The clock and alarm work well on this clock radio. The large display makes the time easy to read. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the antenna is located in the cord the sound quality is very poor. I would not recommend this product if you plan on using the radio frequently."

"Got this as 2 for 1. They are worth it at that price. Don't buy if you don't get that deal because they are made a little cheaply and you will be disappointed. However if you get the 2 for 1 you will be mildly pleased."
