"I got this for my teenage son's room. We have never had a problem with it. Of course we read the instructions! It resets the time if the power goes out or if the time changes for Daylight Savings Time. However, we don't use the lamp controller feature. It has a big bright display, bigger than the clock radio in my own room. This Emerson clock has dual alarms, which comes in handy. Great purchase for our family."

"I have had this clock for more than a year. I did not have any problems with daylight savings time, it changed itself automatically. I don't have any trouble with the alarm going off when it is not set. It is great. I absolutely love the feature that lets you set the alarm for 5 or 7 days. I set it for Monday thru Friday and never have to turn it off through the work week. On Saturdays during certain times of the year we play soccer in the mornings so I set the weekend time differently than my work week. this is the greatest thing for working couples. I love the wave on and off on the display. I want total darkness when I sleep and it works great. I am coming back to buy a second one for my son. He always forgets to turn his alarm on and then if he does he turns it off and goes back to sleep. by setting the second alarm it will give him a backup. The clock is really not that complicated, but like everything else, you have to know how to operate it.

"The alarms (alarm1 and alarm2) go off at times I haven't set. I keep checking it and reprogramming it and it still has a mind of its own. And, I can't turn the alarms off. I set it to "offf" but it still comes on. There are THREE things I can do... unplug it, thrash it or be awakened at very inconvenient times!! DO NOT PURCHASE!!!! I am contacting Emerson/QVC. If I get good customer service I will let everyrone know."

"Good news - it really does reset itself: can see time
Bad news - alarm goes off at 8 and you cannot reset it or UNSET it. Not good for retirees."

"I loved, loved, loved this clock when I first purchased it. However since Day Light Saving Time has "changed" the clock has to be reset by hand twice as year now because it changes on it's own at the old Day Light Saving Time. I really think Emerson could have given customers an opportunity to purchase a new updated clock at a discount price. I have since purchased an atomic clock and love, love, love it."

"The lamp comtroller is the answer to my problem. Other lamp controllers that plug in to the wall socket interfere with the operation of my electric blanket. Only if the lamp controller was built in to the lamp did it operate properly. Since I like my lamp I had to make a choice between my electric blanket and a lamp controller that plugged into the wall socket. Now, with Emerson's built-in lamp controller, both work perfectly. Also, when the clock resets itself after loss of power is a great feature. I had not had it plugged in half an hour when the power went out. My first thought of course was "Now I have to reset the clock again." Then I remembered it resets itself. It put a smile on my face knowing I don't have to do that anymore. The wave sensor is another great feature. So many great features. I could go on and on. Just know this is a great product. Thank You!!!"

"This looked like such a great deal. When it was delivered I read the instructions and discovered two things that are the cause for my returning this. The first is that you cannot plug a lamp into it that uses a compact fluorescent bulb! Those are the only bulbs I use! Secondly, the daylight savings time change is programmed in rather than sent to the clock, which means that if daylight savings time is changed by the Government, then you have to manually set the clock, None of my other automatic clocks are like this. The price is great but be sure of what you are getting before you order it."

"i have purchased three of these clocks. one was a gift and haven't heard any complaints. two are at my home and one is very difficult to adjust the radio station. the second clock i've had for 7 months and it has the projector and rechargeable flashlight attached. the LED display has disappeared. tried to contact emerson so far have only received the runaround. i must say though, the alarm still goes off at the appropriate time, just can't see what time it is!!!"

"WE USED TO HAVE ANOTHER SET OF THE EMERSON SMARTSET ALARM CLOCKS. YET, ALL OF THE TIME MY HUSBAND HAD TO DO WAS JUST WAVE HIS HAND OR ARM BY THE CLOCK IT WOULD STOP THE BUZZER FROM GOING FOR JUST A BIT MORE TIME. YET, HE WAS NOT REALIZING THAT AS LONG AS HE WAS DOING THIS IT JUST KEPT HIM FROM GETTING UP LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN UP THE VERY 1ST TIME IT WENT OFF.
YET, WITH THIS SET YES IT DOES IT TOO BUT NO SO SENSITIVE ABOUT IT NOR THE FACT I LOVE TO PLUG MY LAMP INTO IT AS WELL & IT BECOMES MORE THAN JUST A PLAN LIGHT BULB NOW. "I purchased one of these for all my family members 3 years ago(four total). All of them are still working well. Ours does not have this new feature of the lamp controller, so I have purchased this one for me. We have a lot of power outages in our area, so we love these clocks. Everything else we own has to be re-set, but this comes back on. Because of the change in the Daylight Savings Time Week, we do have to make some adjustments on the older version clocks. The clocks changed a week early, but we left them alone and adjusted our "alarm" feature to an hour earlier. Then, when the new week for DST started, we changed the "alarm" feature back to what we wanted. We did have to remember that they were off one hour, but it wasn't that hard to do for us. We love the feature to not have to re-set this clock everytime we have a few minutes of power outage!"

"I bought this alarm clock for myself last Christmas season. It has worked perfectly, even through power outages and seasonal time changes. It looks great, the instructions on how to use it are clear, and I would recommend it to anybody who wants a precise and functional alarm clock"

"I purchased an Emerson radio that has this feature on it. When Congress messed with the DST I thought that the time set would be lost. I discovered that all you have to do is adjust the time zone for a week and then readjust it a week later."

"I have two Emerson clocks which I have enjoyed for years because they magically change times, and return to the time when power is restored after outages.
However, with Congress' new DST expansion, Emerson has made new models which are in sync with the extended DST. These models are apparently not, based on previous reviews of this and other models here on QVC. EmersonRadio's own web site explains what's what, and what serial numbers are needed to meet the new DST changes without problems."

"This is the greatest. I puchased this alarm clock after having an infant son. Getting up for late night feedings and not having to turn on a light so bright. Also I don't understand the reviews stating buttons breaking. Once you turn it on you do not have to touch a button except to set the alarm. These are great quality products."

"Loved this clock, but now since they extended daylight saving time, the clock changes at the wrong time. I gave several as gifts last year. Don't know what to do but have to change clock back to old time and then again when it should have changed."

"I have had this clock in several of my rooms and as of this past weekend the "Timing" is off by an Hour! Because of the Daylight Savings Time, it's messed up the "Real Time!"
So when we get up and see it's 6:00 A.M. it's really 7:00 and we're LATE!!!!

"I found out today that "fall back" to standard time did not work for here in washington because we changed the "fall back" to a later date but the clock did the "fall back" strange but love the clock!!!"
